I know you were waiting on your tippy toes to hear about my surgery! *cough* It went well. I am all done with all the cancer stuff and I got my homework done on that day as well! So whoop!!! By-the-way. Watch out! At the hospital I went to, my fiancee and I were stopped by a security guard and directed us to a nurse who was checking everyone for symptoms of the swine flue. Anyone under the age of 18 were NOT allowed into the hospital. Keep that in mind if you are headed there at some time.
What’s going on with the weather? Snow? Rain? Freezing cold? Winter weather watch? UGH! It was 60 degrees today! It’s supposed to be 60 again in the weekend!!! This has to be the most drastic winter we have had here in Denver. I have academic advising at the school tomorrow. I’m not too sure I want to drive early in the morning with the snow. Bummer.
I have a few tips for everyone who wants to stay healthy. The news channel was just talking about the flu…again. It never ends, I know. But did you know these tips? To help you stay healthy try this out:
1. Get your rest- more than 7 and a half hours. It boosts your immune system
2. Go for a walk. There is that myth that you try to “sweat out the cold.” Hard exercise actually decreases your immune system, while a walk is just right!
3. Low Fat Foods!!! Easier to digest and your body can use more of the nutrients. Fat decreases the immune system.
4. Have a cup of tea per day
5. Laugh. Yup. Laugh early and a lot!! Laughing releases special chemicals and endorphins into your system which actually helps boost your immune system. It’s the best medicine for you! Watch a comedy!
Of course, as always the typical things… When you wash your hands scrub well and say your ABCs. Clean the surfaces of your home that you touch often. I just did a biology lab that tested certain areas that I touched a lot. The biggest spot which grew the most mold in the test vial was actually this button that I touch in order to open the trash can. The second biggest place was the door handle. Phew! Lots of bacteria grew in my sterile environment.
Also, if you don’t know this already…keep your shoes OFF when you walk in your home!!! Your shoes are filthy! Tons of bacteria and gross stuff is on the bottoms of your shoes and it gets stuck into your carpet. Also, try not to shake hands with a lot of people. Sometimes hard to do, but try to keep touching or coming very close to others at a minimum.
Otherwise than that, not much else to keep you up to date on. Surgery went well, school is going pretty well…I can’t wait till it’s over with…and I’m trying to stay away from all the sick people.
Talk to you later!
p.s.- an average college student touches their face on average 47 times in a 3 hour period. Stop that students!

At least you still know that you can complete your classes, at least when you are taking online courses.
We were going to go out, take some pictures, and some video today. Yet, my surgery is on Monday. Yup, my last surgery/colonoscopy to deal with the cancer. Do I worry about classes? Nope. I can do them later. However, the down time before the surgery is crazy. You see, before any colon stuff you have to sometimes drink this stuff called magnesium citrate. Terrible horrible stuff. They say that the operation is nothing, which is true because you get knocked out. Yet, the pre-op stuff is what everyone complains about. They call this flavor that I drank recently today, “Pleasing Lemon.” Are you kidding me?!?! Is there a word for the deception of the printed words? The word “pleasing” should be illegal to be printed on these bottles. Ha! What a lie.
Anyway, sometimes I wish that I had taken classes at the University just because I can use it as an excuse. “Oh, I’m sorry doctor…I have school that day, and every day there after.” In truth I have school practically every day, but I don’t have to drive there. As a side note- I can not eat the day before the operation as well as the next half day before the surgery. I get sort of crabby when I don’t eat. I believe the only thing that pulls me through this is dreaming about what I want after I wake up. I think this time I’m headed down the road of belgium waffles with a side of fresh fruit!!! Then enchiladas for dinner.
My to-be-husband, I found out, is a pretty good cook. This is a good thing since I get home from work at about 6:30. That’s kind of late to be starting something that may take an hour to cook. He made these really delicious enchiladas!! He is making a second batch for me with slightly more spice in them. Yum! He spoils me.
If you want the recipe, which kind of changes to taste every time, let me know. You can feed a lot of people without spending a lot of money.
So that’s about it. I shall be writing soon after my surgery to let you know what happens. October 13th (which was this past week) was the year mark. Last year on that day I got diagnosed, but I never stopped school and only about 4 months for work. Hope all is well!

It’s school season, you have tons of homework to do, and if you have a career, you also have to go to work. So you’re busy. I get it. On top of it, many college students are working parents trying to go to school. That’s tough work.
Now to the point. Throughout the entire summer you may not have much to do and there are no new episodes of television on. Annoying isn’t it? You have to watch re-runs. Then the time that you are the busiest all the good shows come back on!
Since I do all online classes guess what I do? I take my computer, sit down on the couch, and watch television. Smart move? Eh, probably not. Fun? yeah. Every time it comes to summer though, I get all excited to watch t.v. It’s all re-runs though!
Well, that’s my rampage for the night. Midterms are gone and done. Phew. Now onto the next leg of the course, make sure you remember the deadline to register for next semester courses, and get ready for finals. Hopefully, they go as well as midterms went.
Also, if you haven’t gotten the picture yet. Immunization records are due by November 2nd. So if you haven’t put them in yet to admin… you might want to.
That’s all! I’m ready to go out into warm weather again. (which is coming again this week) And can we say… Go Broncos?! Yeah, a perfect record is beautiful.
